Had yet another great stay hereExcellent food and comfortable rooms

Everything at this accommodation was fabulous from the owner, the room that we had and the breakfast.We were sent messages from the owner regarding our arrival time which due to circumstances we had to change.The personal greeting from the owner was appreciated as was some of the conversations we all had.There were numerous choices on the menu for breakfast, all of which were delicious.Our room was out in the courtyard but it was beautifully decorated, large and comfortable.Would highly recommend this Guest House.

A very comfortable and welcoming house, very conveniently placed, only a 10 minute walk to the city centre, a park and the river. Friendly host. Would definitely stay there again

Lovely breakfast, overly comfortable room. Being next to a road thought it might be noisy butno . Clean and more than attentive staff.

Once again we had a lovely stay. We requested room 4 which has a lovely big bathroom and comfortable bed. Cooked breakfast was made to our requests as filled out the night before. Mike was perfect host taking time out to chat.

Such a wonderful guest house the room we stopped in was spotless the owner Mike is such a pleasant man good variety of breakfast near to the town centre and recourse there are also some good restaurants and shops next to the guest house highly recommend already booked to come black

I was in York for a 4-night break, and found the Dairy Guest House to be ideal for this. Very welcoming and friendly, room was comfortable and breakfast very good quality, while it was within easy reach of the city centre and everything I wanted to see. Would certainly consider using the Dairy Guest House again when making another visit to York.

We found the dairy guest house an ideal location for exploring yorkOur room was clean, comfy beds, and ensuit with shower ample for our stay. Breakfasts had sufficient options of juices, cereals with a cooked breakfast, toasts , tea , and coffee. The staff were tentative ,informant, and friendly. We will use the dairy guest house on our return to york.

I had a wonderful three days in York. The host was a very nice landlord, served a warm English breakfast every morning, and gave me a lot of useful travel advice. The hostel is on the edge of the old town, there is no charge after registration, parking is not difficult, and there is a supermarket next door. Walk to the Old town about 15-20 minutes, wish all the best.Best regardsRui Fu

Stayed at The Dairy for two nights with friends. The rooms are a good size with lovely decor & extra nice little touches such as wipes, tissues & a chocolate each. Everywhere was immaculately clean, the bathroom was large & modern. Breakfast was exceptionally nice with good quality ingredients .Nicely situated with just a short walk into the centre. Pretty courtyard to sit in if the weather is good. Free parking if you forward your car registration. Five stars from us, would definitely return. One of the nicest guest houses we’ve ever stayed in

This review is a bit delayed I'm afraid because I'm so disorganised and just came across the email that I hadn't replied to (I don't think)! I've stayed at the dairy guest house a few times and always found it perfect for what I want i.e. friendly, clean, quiet and convenient for both the city and local amenities. I'll definitely be returning.

Our third stay at The Dairy and it couldn't have been better. A warm welcome from Mike who was a great host. The room was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed and the breakfast was delicious. It's just a short walk into the city centre for sightseeing and the "Bishy" Road has plenty to offer. Would definitely recommenda stay here.

Stopped for Friday and Saturday night. Mike was a great host and also cooked a quality breakfast, great ingredients.Mike himself was very informative about the city will definitely be going back.

This is a great stay. Our room was lovely - really comfortable and with good facilities. Provision of shower gel, shampoo, lotions, teas, coffees, hot chocolates and biscuits was terrific. Even including a bottle opener with proper glasses was a lovely touch. We enjoyed a different cooked breakfast every morning. Parking was terrific and made easy for guests. Perfect distance from York city centre. All in all a great stay at a good price and with excellent facilities. Thank you

We enjoyed staying at this small hotel, located in a lovely area in York city with good restaurants, cafes & interesting shops nearby. The hotel is very clean and welcoming with beautiful decor. We had a very good night sleep, very comfortable beds and nice bathroom with thoughtful items supplied like wipes, biscuits, water etc. Breakfast was good & we appreciated how easy it was to check in and out. We would definitely stay again.

The guest house was excellent and I enjoyed my stay. Staff were very obliging and I was impressed by breakfast ordering. Breakfast was very good and the facilities provided in the room excellent.

Nice quiet area but only a few minutes walk from the center of the city. Room was very spacious and well maintained. The room was in a courtyard so no real noise from the street beyond. Good breakfast and parking on the street outside is a real bonus. We will be back.

Dairy Guest House is in a superb location for access to restaurants, pubs etc. and an easy walk into York city centre. Our large bedroom and bathroom was spotlessly clean and the breakfasts were delicious and filling. Mike, the owner, looked after us extremely well and is the best host!

We stayed for 4 days what a lovely B&B ideal location for York could walk into York in 10/15 minutes. Breakfast was lovely excellent egg Benedict and full English. Comfortable bed. Friendly owner would definitely return. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We love York and everytime we visit, we stay at the Dairy Guest House, beautiful rooms with the owners eye for detail.

We stayed at the Dairy Guest House for a mid week break of 2 nights. Mike was a great host, the guest house was spotless and decorated to a high standard. We had 2 bedrooms as there were 3 of us. Both rooms had everything you would need, including hot drinks, biscuits, a bottle of water and a chocolate each, which was a nice touch. There was even a hot water bottle for the cold nights, which wasn’t needed. The beds were very comfortable.The breakfast was very tasty, we had cereal, the full English, and toast, plenty of hot drinks too.Parking was on a permit and the car was left there as we walked into the city each day which was a walk of 15 minutes. There was also a nice parade of shops along Bishy Road. If we are back in York we would definitely stay again. Thanks for your hospitality Mike during our stay.

Lovely from start to finish with no issues. We stayed in room 5 which was a downstairs courtyard room with a very comfy super king-sized bed and modern bathroom. Beautiful toiletries, excellent breakfast and attentive hosts. Would not hesitate to book again, thankyou.

The Dairy is so easy to get to from the A59 and the free parking is great. There are several lovely places to eat and drink on the doorstep. York centre and The Barbican are just a ten minute stroll away.We usually have room 6, which has a double bed. This visit we had room 5, which has a superking bed. Both rooms are quiet and peaceful, set in a lovely courtyard out of the main building. The bedding and towels are really good quality. Hot drinks, tasty biscuits and lovely toiletries are provided. TV is freeview. Mike's cooked breakfasts are delicious and there are fruit juices, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast etc, plenty to set you up for the day. Lost count of how many times we've stayed at the Dairy - we wouldn't stay anywhere else in York.

A really charming facility. Loved by the owner who was equally charming. Clean,well managed,lovely breakfast and a good choice. By now you will realise that Dairy Guest house is truly a five star accommodation. Location just out side the walls make it an ideal tourist location .

We had an excellent two-night break in York and our decision to stay at the Dairy Guest House proved to be a very good one.The house was spotlessly clean and extremely well decorated and the full English breakfast was very good indeed. Mike, the owner, was welcoming and explained all we needed to know quickly and easily. The property is approx 20 minutes easy walking from the city centre and ideally sited. If we are to visit York again in the future we would book at the Dairy Guest House again with no hesitation,

Stayed at Dairy Guest House numerous times now and once again couldn’t fault it Mike the proprietor is very accommodating and breakfast is great too. Plus you get free parking which is an advantage for York so I would definitely recommend.

Mike the host was a very good host the bedroom was clean and comfortable and there was a good choice of breakfast the room was cleaned daily not far to walk to the town centre or the racecourse Highley recommend this guest house already booked to return back to this lovely guest house

We have stayed at The Dairy several times. Mike and his team are brilliant. Always so welcoming - home from home -.Rooms perfect, breakfast perfect. We visit York 2/3 times a year and will only stay at The Dairy.

Do you want to feel like you’ve come home to something you didn’t know still existed?I found that at the Dairy Guest House. A 15 minute walk from the train station, passing ancient city walls, you turn on the final street.You’ll walk by a tavern, the hardware store, coffee shop, bakery, meat market and green grocer and then see the green door of the DGH. My room was upstairs and felt prepared just for me with directions and suggestions displayed. Fresh and clean, tidy, with everything to feel welcomed and comfortable. I was given a card to leave out with breakfast choices and enjoyed a private table in the breakfast room the next morning where I could take in the activities on the street.Mike was willing to hold my bag after checking out as my train didn’t leave until the afternoon. In summary:quiet, accommodating, clean and welcoming.

Just returned from a lovely weekend break staying at the Dairy Guest House. Nice double room with large bathroom complete with lovely toiletries. Breakfast was really tasty with plenty of choice. Mike helped me with a surprise by providing Prosecco in the room for my partners birthday and recommending where to eat. Great hospitality and would definitely stay again. Perfect location with free parking too - what’s not to like

Beautifully decorated guest house in a great location. Wonderfully thoughtful touches throughout--enclosed garden, tea-and-coffee station in the room (complete with china mugs, shortbreads, and chocolates), many delicious breakfast options. We will certainly stay again! Host Mike was delightful.

Had a fantastic 2 night stay at The Dairy Guest House. It's ideally located for all of the attractions that York has to offer. Our stay was for Fridayand Saturday night.Our room was very clean and well equipped. The bed was comfy and the shower was good. The cooked breakfast was excellent as was the service over our stay.

Having stayed at this lovely guest house it’s easy to see why it gets the great reviews that it does. Mike was very welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Parking on the road outside was easy and it was only a 15 minute walk into the heart of the town where you’ll find everything. There is a small Sainsbury’s next door and you are surrounded by places to eat within a 3 minute stroll. Would definitely recommend this place and will be back again soon I hope

Just wanted to recommend this lovely guest house.The location is perfect as not too far from Train Station where you can either walk or jump in a taxi.To town, it was about a 15-minute leisurely walk which took you to the York Castle location in the city and from there everything was central.The Guest House was spotlessly clean and the bedroom in the courtyard was quiet so no bother sleeping.The English breakfast provided each morning was tasty and perfectly cooked.There was also toast, cereals, fruit and coffee provided as well.Very nice.Will definitely return.Thanks for a lovely stay.

Had a very enjoyable 2 night stay. We were made very welcome. Everything was spotlessly clean and we had a very tasty breakfast. It's well situated for walking into the city centre. Will definitely return.

We were extremely happy with the room and breakfast. Mike was an excellent host. Also a nice area to stay with pubs and wine bars and close to the centre of York and train station to walk.

Our second time visiting and it was just as great as the first time. Everything was immaculate and we felt instantly relaxed on arrival!

We spent three nights at The Dairy Guest House recently where Mike looked after us very well. He was the perfect host who listened carefully and noted our requirements. Our room was clean, comfortable and pleasing to the eye. Our breakfasts were exactly what we requested; carefully prepared and cooked by Mike. Mike was ably assisted by Sharon who alsotook pleasure in providing a very high standard of service.

From the start when Michael greeted us and carried suitcases upstairs and took time to chat, we knew this would be pleasant. The room with amazing bathroom has such attention to details eg mirrorspictures, hospitality basket. We pre ordered breakfast and the time required. Helped yourself to cereals, fruit, yogurt etc when waiting for cooked breakfast. Location was 15 minutes walk from station, and about the same to middle of town. I think busses run close by but we didn't need them. Around the corner is a supermarket and many restaurants. Recommend Rice Sticks if you like Thai.

Lovely York B&B in an excellent location. Easy picturesque walk into the city, took about 15 minutes, through the vibrant Bishy Road area with its quirky cafes and bars. The Dairy is a quirky well run B&B, beautiful breakfast. Our room was a nice size, ground floor with a king size bed. Very clean with everything provided including towels. Set in a pretty courtyard.The owner Mike couldn't do enough for us. Recommended.

We came back here after staying 20 years ago. The place has new owners but is just as lovely and is in a great location. The owners were very welcoming and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious. I highly recommend the eggs florentine they were perfect.😋

This is a comfortable B&B with great individually prepared breakfasts. It is a 10 minute walk to the old town of York making it a great location. Local parking is available if pre arranged. We stayed here 10 years ago during our first visit to York and enjoyed it. The house has been nicely renovated and the new bathrooms are quite nice. Definitely a quality stay.

A lovely place to stay, within walking distance, for the fit, of the city centre. Mike was very hospitable and welcomed us and ensured that we had all we needed. Lovely courtyard to sit in the sun and read a book was an added bonus.

Great host, Great Housekeeper, Comfy 4 poster bed, Well appointed room and bathroom. Tea and coffee PLUS biscuits a good selection. You can tell a lot of thought was put into the decoration of the rooms. Nice and clean. Breakfast had a good choice and was well presented and freshly cooked and very tasty. Mike even let me buy a jar of lovely jam.

This was our 3rd time staying at the Dairy guest house whilst visiting our daughter at uni .The location in great as only a sort distance from the city and having a parking permit meanswe don’t have to worry about parking .Breakfast is amazing can’t fault any of it ,the room wasclean andspacious , Mike was very friendly and so was the lady who served us breakfast ( sorry I don’t know your name )We will definately be coming back

The single room was clean, well equipped and very pleasant.Michael and his team were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and I felt well looked after. They catered for a GF diet, with the breakfast being very tasty. Parking was sorted after a little juggling and the location was good, being a short 15ish minutes walk into the city centre.Thank you!

I had a 2 night stay here while visiting York to see Flying Scotsman at the National Railway Museum. The property is around a 15 minute walk from the Railway Station or a few minutes ride in a taxi. There is a bus stop around the corner from the guest house making it easy to get in to the centre if you don't want to walk. The room I had was overlooking the courtyard and was very good. The breakfast, which you need to order the night before, is also good. The owners were very friendly and I would not hesitiate to stay here again in the future.

We were a group of 4 adults staying at the Dairy Guest House, for a weekend break in York. The location was perfect, next to the Bishy Road independent shops and cafes and within close walking distance to the centre. Our rooms were spotless and very comfortable, with a good selection of teas and coffees. Great products in the bathroom too. We are looking forward to our next visit already!

Had the pleasure of staying in the Court Yard room, no 6. Very quiet room with tasteful interior design and an excellent bathroom. Great breakfast, very well cooked by owner Mike.The guest house was conveniently located near a food shop, and with the bus stop for the Hop on Hop off bus only a short stroll up the road. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would most definitely stay at The Dairy Guest House again!

Great choice. Short walk into centre and free parking at allocated spot just up from guest house. We had ground floor room in courtyard which was lovely and peaceful. Water, tea, coffee biscuits all replenished on second day. Breakfast ordered day before and cooked beautifully to order. Three time slots also booked in advance. Very friendly welcome and breakfast service. We pre booked Whippett Inn and Delrios for evening meals which were both fab. Would highly recommend staying here.

The Dairy Guest House was a brilliant place to stay for a few nights in York.Mike was extremely accommodating and the ability to check in at 2 pm worked really well, enabling us to drop our bags off and head off to explore.Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed and breakfast was extremely tasty.We were also able to leave our bags at the guest house on the day of departure which meant we could explore the city a little more before returning to collect them and head off for our train home.Mike made us feel very comfortable throughout and we had a brilliant, relaxed time in York, despite quite a lot of rain!

This was our 1st visit to the Dairy Guesthouse,Conveniently located on the edge of the City Centre and literally across the road from some beautiful restaurants this was in prime location for us , A short walk passing the City walls and over the river you found yourself in the centre of it all !The Guesthouse itself was immaculately clean, well decorated and welcoming,the room was comfortable,modern and with great facilities likewise the en suite was spacious,modern and well stocked with complimentary toiletries,Breakfast was also high standard,well presented,quality and cooked perfectly.We would 100% stop again and would recommend 👌

We were made very welcome on arrival. The room was very cosy and all thethought of things made the difference.

We stayed in Room 6 on the ground floor. The room was comfortable , tastefully decorated and quiet. TheDairy house is a short walk away from the centre of York so no need to use a car. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Breakfast was well cooked with plenty of options. Mike was the perfect host very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return on our next trip to York.

This is a family-run guest house, very reasonably priced.Car parking is provided and it's a short walk to the centre of York, ideal for sight-seeing.There are several eating places nearby too.We loved the warm welcome we received, the en suite bedroom, the breakfast, everything about it in fact!

I booked this BnB for somewhere to stay in York for my wife's birthday. Its a great little place just outside the heart of the city. The staff were incredibly nice and the facilities were immaculate. Great little breakfast with good options for vegans. Highly recommend.

This B&B did the job excellently and I thought it was really good value for money. Very friendly, clean and my room was very comfortable. Great breakfast with plenty of choice. Located a few minutes walk from the city centre with pubs, restaurants and a mini supermarket a stone's throw away. After my train to York was cancelled Mike sorted out an electronic parking permit over the phone. So overall I was very happy with the stay

we stayed for three nights and really enjoyed our stay, the room was spotlessly clean as was the house. good choice for breakfast, the room was stoked with good quality items i.e tea, coffee,tissues etc. the house was a 15 to 20 minute walk from the town and told 20 mins from the racecourse, the owner sorts out free parking across the road all in all very good value for money and would definitely stay here again

Even before arriving we were made to feel very welcome by the emails from Mike, once there it was like home from home, the room was lovely very clean & with everything you need & some nice little touches like a bottle of water, chocolates & very nice branded toiletries. Stayed here for york races excellent location for both the racecourse and the city centre. 15min walkto the races. 10mins walk to the town. Bars and reastrauntsalong the way. Couldn't fault the location. Room was cozy . Very clean . And plenty of draw space to put items away loverly breakfast. Nice seating area outside to relax and wind down . I had no problem parking plenty of spaces and this was on raceday. get a permit from the guesthouse. The Host was friendly and very knowledgeable on york and what was happeningin the city. Overall we had a very very nice 2 day stay

The Dairy Guest House is a lovely place to stay in York. It has very stylish decor and was immaculately clean. There was an excellent choice of cooked breakfast dishes using quality local produce, all beautifully cooked to order.The Dairy is located just off the popular ‘Bishy Road’ with great cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. It is also only a 10 minute walk into York city centre, and handily placed for walks along the riverside and around the ancient city wall.Mike was a very welcoming host, and I really enjoyed my stay - I will definitely be returning to The Dairy in the future.

I have seldom experienced a Guest House with such conscientious, thoughtful staff. The owner, Mike welcomed me at check-in and showed me the facilities with warmth and a degree of efficiency and slickness. The point i’m trying to make is that the business gives the impression of being very well organised, but not to the point of bland sterility.The guest house is beautifully decorated, and clean. Itmarries traditional artwork on the walls with modern decor, and en-suite facilities.The cooked breakfast was excellent. I was very appreciative of the offer of a vegan breakfast, which in other establishments are often cobbled together and feel more like an afterthought than an attempt to genuinely accommodate. My breakfast was delicious and kept me satiated all day.Thank you for a memorable stay!

The Dairy Guest House is located in a thriving local community about 5 minutes to the city walls and 10 minutes to the City centre. The spotless accommodation is well presented and Michael is an excellent host.Would certainly return when next in York and highly recommended.

Mike the owner is so gracious, friendly and informative. Sharon his assistant was friendly and efficient. The place was very nicely decorated and very clean. The food was delicious. The surprise was the enclosed courtyard to relax in after a day of sightseeing.

Mike was most accommodating with an early check in. The room was spotless with a nice carafe of bottled water and chocolates included. Coffee and breakfast options were very good. Convenient location just outside the city walls with several good restaurants nearby. Highly recommended 👍

I really loved staying here. The breakfast was great everyday, the rooms were wonderful and well thought out, and overall I felt very welcome and appreciated all of the suggestions and help I was given for visiting the city. It’s not too far from the city center or the train station either with was great. Would definitely stay again!

We were drawn to this B&B by its very positive reviews and we were not disappointed.It is conveniently located to the station and city centre, both within a 10-15 min walk, its on a local busy road with shops and cafe’s on hand but our room was very quiet inside.Spotlessly clean and our room had everything we needed. The host- Mike his friendly assistant made our stay comfortable and relaxed. There was a great breakfast every morning with plenty of choices to cater for all tastes. There is a small courtyard seating area at the rear of the house which guests can use to relax away from their room.All in all this is a lovely guest house which we can highly recommend.

The were delighted with our stay at The Dairy Guesthouse. The room we booked was very comfortable and spotlessly clean opening up onto a lovely private courtyard. The breakfast is very tasty and the food is very good quality. Mike goes out of his way to be informative and helpful regarding local information and very flexible regarding check in times. Lovely comfortable break with a very attentive host and nothing was too much trouble.A great breakfast with good quality produce. Ourroom was lovely with a four poster bed, with a good quality mattress, in turn gave us a good night's sleep.

The Dairy Guest House is a fantastic base to explore York from. Its walking distance both to the station and centre of town. The rooms are great with all the facilities you would want. Between me and my partner, I think we tried every possible breakfast option bar the cooked breakfast and all were prepared with a lot of care and tasted really good. Its a great place to stay and I would wholeheartedly recommend it if you are going to York for a week.

Travelled for a three day business course. Beautiful period house with lots of original features. Just a 5 minute walk to the walls of York. There was a few shops & restaurants right on doorstep, it was very quaint. Stayed in twin room which was big & airy with everything you needed. Some extra nice touches in the room. Bathroom was immaculate with lovely fixtures and fittings, soft towels & good quality toiletries.The bed was too hard for me but that is not a criticism as it's a personal choice.Breakfast was lovely with a good selection of both hot & cold. However earliest time for breakfast was 8.15am which made it a bit of a rushed event for us to get to course for 8.50am. Though owner made sure our pre-ordered breakfast was ready on time so at least we didn't have to wait.Only little negative was the beautiful big sash window of the room which had a very good quality blind. The blind was good however the gap down the side from window frame to blind was very big & let in lots & lots of light which did disturb sleeper nearest window. If light disturbs sleep then a sleep eye mask would be recommended.Would definitely stay here again & recommend to anyone.

Dairy guest house has been our favourite place to stay for many-a-year and we look forward to every visit. This year we stayed in room 5 with its luxurious king size bed and delicious decoration, Mike's attention to detail is a credit to him and the photos do not do justice. Breakfasts at the Dairy guest house are fantastic with a varied menu to suit all tastes and set you up for the day.

You couldn't ask for more. Room was immaculate, breakfast was lovely and Mike was a great host. A perfect couple of nights stay and we hope to return soon.

This is my second visit to the guest house. I asked for the same room as previous, in the courtyard. It had been recently decorated and looked great. Room and ensuite were immaculately clean and well maintained, with a varied drinks tray which was well stocked. Bed was comfy and duvet was very cosy. Breakfast was delicious, presented nicely and in a welcoming environment. The guest house is in a good location with local amenities nearby. I would highly recommend visiting here and i think the cost is very reasonable.

Tea coffee etc was plentiful. Extra touches like proper glasses, a bottle of water, corkscrew and chocolates just added to our already amazing experience.Breakfast plentiful, great choice, fruit juice, cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt full English, omelette and as much toast, tea and coffee as you wanted, all cooked to order.Mike was very accommodating, he sorted us out a space to park the car and was knowledgeable about the area. He made us feel very welcome and we would definitely book the Dairy Guest House again

Fantastic accommodation in an excellent location in York city centre. On arrival we were greeted by the owner Mike and given a parking permit for our car. We stayed in the four poster room which was tastefully decorated and very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Coffee and tea making facilities and a bottle of filtered water was a nice touch. The breakfast was to die for we had a full English both mornings also cereal and fruit and as much toast as you wanted. The house is amazing and full of character. It was our first stay here but it definitely won’t be our last.

We had a lovely 4 night stay in York in this very nice B & B.We were made to feel very welcome by Mike, nothing was too much trouble.The breakfasts were superb.The room (twin) was warm and comfortable with a bottle of filtered water and glasses, which we appreciated, as well as the welcome tray which was replenished each day.Sharon, Mike’s assistant, was also very friendly and helpful, she kept the rooms spotless as well as serving us our breakfast.Thank you for a lovely stay, we wouldn’t hesitate to visit again next time we’re in York.

We stayed in the family room and it was amazing. The room was very cosy and clean. The shower room was very modern.It was only a short walk into York city centre and you have a Sainsbury’s right next door which is really convenient.The breakfast was great with lots to choose FromThankyou for a lovely weekend.

Stayed for 2 nights. We checked in at around 11 which was brilliant to be able to check in early and enjoy the rest of our day. The owner mike was brilliant he was very welcoming and knowledgeable about York and places to eat etc. Our room was very clean and had tea,coffee,a bottle of water, a couple of biscuits and chocolates provided. Room was at the front of the building on a road but could not hear the traffic noise at all. The bed was comfortable and the room was lovely and warm. Breakfast was excellent a good choice and enough to keep you going for the day. Service for breakfast was quick andthelady serving us was excellent.It is only a10/15 min walk into the city centre. We'll worth the money. Would stay again if we come again to York.

A lovely clean room bed was very comfortable, breakfast was first class and well organised. Mike does a good job and sorted us a parking permit out nice and close. Would love to come backif we are in the area.

Stayed recently for a weekend visit to York, the accommodation was perfect, great facilities and original features. Mike was the perfect host and thought of everything to make our stay and visit perfect. Arrange taxis for us when required and nothing was too much trouble. Lots of options for breakfast and the food was excellent. Would definitely stay again as very accessible for York centre

My wife and I have just had another wonderful stay at the Dairy guest house. The room was spotlessly clean and well decorated to a high standard. The breakfast is a real treat and cooked to perfection. Mike is a very friendly and helpful, and works so hard to provide a memorable stay. This is our favourite place to stay in your now, and will return many times more.

We had the most fabulous stay at the Dairy Guest House. We stayed in the double garden room. It is beautifully decorated, immaculate and has everything you could need and more. We enjoyed a delicious cooked breakfast each morning cooked to our exact request. Mike is a wonderful host. We are looking forward to returning again in the future.

We had a very comfortable 4 poster bed in a great room with nice views of Bishy Rd, The breakfast was excellent, you also have a choice of 3 breakfast sittings which is a great idea.For people that are driving to York Mike also offers free parking definitely a bonus. We will certainly be back at the Dairy Guest House.

We can't speak highly enough of the Dairy Guest House in terms of value for money and comfort. Everything was spot on including breakfast. Lovely host and would highly recommend.

Travelled with a friend and we had to delay our initial stay due to Covid. We stayed in the October half term and we had the family room in the court yard. Very peaceful away from the road and plenty of room and clean. Breakfast was lovely (can highly rcommend the poached egg) and I was provided with Gluten Free breakfasts. Central location with an easy walk into town. I'm sure we'll soon be back as we love York

Came across this lovely guest house whilst looking on Google Maps for a place to stay for 2 nights in York. Managed to get the last available room. Mike is an excellent host, very friendly & welcoming. Mike provided a guide to York, local attractions & restaurant recommendations. The room we had was lovely, with the entrance via the courtyard. Nice comfy beds & wetroom style shower. The breakfast was excellent, both traditional & vegan options. Good selection of fruit juices & coffee etc provided. The location is a 5 minute walk to the York Wall, 6 minute walk to the river with some lovely shops locally. Would definitely seek to stay there again if back in York. The property is conveniently located within 10 minutes walk of the town with shops and restaurants in the vicinity. We enjoyed our stay with a quiet room on the first floor having a large en-suite bathroom. There was a good choice and well cooked breakfast every day. We would certainly recommend this Guest House.

From the minute we booked our little break away Mike took the time to keep in touch via email of all our holiday details seems nothing was too much trouble...Dairy guest house itself is spotless and in a great location with about 15 min stroll to the town centre where there is lots to do and see . Breakfast menus are set on your table in the diningroom which you fill in the night before we chose the full English which was delicious the poached eggs were perfect .I would definitely recommend a stay here and we will definitely be going back .

Stayed here a few times now and always return, Mike is very welcoming and accommodating nothing any trouble. Breakfast is served between 8.15 and 9.15 and plenty of options to choose from all cooked fresh and always excellent. Rooms are very comfortable with everything you need in them like tea coffee biscuits bottled water wine glasses, all toiletries hair dryer basically everything you need for a short stay York. It’s a pleasant 10 min walk into the city. Would definitely recommend.

What can I say, this was absolutely perfect, 100%! The whole place was spotless, comfy, welcoming, and breakfast outstanding!Location is ideal, only a 10 min walk to centre of York, and on the corner of the high street which is full of good restaurants, shops, pubs, with Rowntree Park a five minute walk away. There's a Sainsbury's local on the corner literally next door so anything you need is easy to get. It was very quiet despite being near the main road.There's a partially covered courtyard at the back so you can sit out even in the rain, and a small room with a couple of armchairs, lamp and gentle music next to the dining room. Also lots of games and DVDs in there to borrow.We had room 5 which is on the ground floor and opens directly onto the courtyard, lovely place to sit in the evening with a glass of wine. It's a family room with a walk-in shower, bathroom is very up to date. Heated towel rack and all toiletries included even as far as make-up wipes, all replenished each day. Various types of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, biscuits, fancy chocolates and water in glass bottles. Wine glasses if you fancy a tipple in the courtyard. Free wifi, Freeview. Extra blankets and hot water bottle under the bed. Thermostat radiator so you can set heating to your liking.Breakfast was great, I highly recommend the pork and & cracked black pepper sausage, sourced from the butcher over the road! (We bought more to take home!) Just fill in the form the night before with what you would like and at what time and it will be ready for you in the morning. Vegetarian/vegan/gluten free etc all accommodated. Homemade marmalade!And Michael was an absolute sweetheart, such a gentleman! Accommodating on check in time.Cannot recommend this place enough, we'll definitely be back! Thanks Michael!PS: Only negative was that the guest guidelines in the book were a bit brusque and made me quite anxious about making marks on the towels or anything, but hey, we had a great 3 nights!

The guesthouse is tastefully decorated to an excellent standard. We loved the attention to detail & consideration to individualised guest rooms which showcased local quality, from biscuits & tea to toiletries. Quality fresh tasty breakfast, we went to the local butcher's to buy some of the sausages used in the full english option. Guesthouse is in a good location, just 15mins gentle walk to the centre passing through a vibrant area of York just outside the boundaries of the walls. We certainly intend to return to enjoy again & have no hesitation in recommending. Thank you!

Beautiful Room, clean and well stocked with toiletries coffee tea etc.Just a nice walk from centre of town, nice not to be in the hustle and bustle. So much to see and do in York.Mike was a diamond, kept us informed with all the information we needed as soon as we booked it. Nothing is too much trouble if you need help with anything. Provides useful information about York and provides mapsand information in room which is fantastic as you can plan your day before you head it.Breakfast was amazing freshly cook you just choose what time you want and your breakfast will be made for you everything was fresh and well cooked.We will definitely be back as Mike made us feel so welcome.

Dairy guest house has good hospitality which was friendly and welcoming. Single room/en suite (good power shower) was lovely and peaceful. Good choices for breakfast (with calories counted on menu if needed), full English delicious and fulfilling to start day off with sightseeing. Would highly recommend as in good location only minutes walk away from centre.

Having missed out on our family holiday thanks to his COVID close contact isolation, my son & I shared a few days at Dairy Guest House as a consolation, in a last minute booking. We were in Room 6, in the courtyard. Beautifully furnished, well equipped with smart TV, good quilt & pillows, decent multi option lights. My son loved the shower! Other reviews have made snippy comments about the makeup wipes, but actually I thought that's great. Rude not to bring your own, so a bonus if they are provided! Few other extra touches too - standard of drinks sachet, chocs, water.Host Mike is charming, calm, knowledgeable. Great with my chatty boy. Very responsive.Breakfast was lovely. Dining room has been decorated since photos on website. Plenty of choice from buffet. Cooked breakfast ordered night before was excellent, with quality ingredients cooked well.The house itself is just off the main road in to York, but we were not disturbed by it. Immediate local area has both basic groceries and quirky shops, with places to eat (we ate in York). Parking permit easily sorted with Mike. We walked into York each day within 10 mins.Highly recommend, will return.

Second stay at this guest house I love it it’s a lovely walk into York Centre over the river and close to the Wall . It is set in a village setting of its own and was all decorated for Christmas very pretty.This time we stopped had a different room which was cosy with a fabulous wet room bathroom and cosy appeal to the room . The breakfast was excellent quality and plenty of choice for everyone .Css as my wait to stay again in 2021X

Ideally centrally located within easy walking distance to York. A lovely local community setting with plenty of nearby restaurants. Room and whole of house was spotlessly clean, an exceptionally high standard. Shower was fab in huge bathroom. All little extras provided in room which made a difference. Mike was a knowlegable host and super organised. Breakfast was sufficient and very well cooked and tasty.

We stayed for two nights celebrating our Pearl wedding anniversary with friends. We where greeted with a warm and friendly welcome, our room was lovely and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious especially the homemade marmalade. Hoping to visit again later this year.

Excellent location, most times nice and quiet. Just 5 minutes to the wall walk, 10 to the town central area. Our room was clean,had everything plus a lovely bathroom. The courtyard and dining areas were just right.Our host Mike was so helpful and pleasant, great cook and nothing was too much trouble. Car parking could have been a problem due to the on-street rulings but it worked ok for us.

We loved our stay at the Dairy the room was beautiful with loads of original features all carefully restored to full glory. A modern bathroom With a large shower .The breakfast was perfect with good quality produce and offered a great selection not just a traditional full English it also offers Vegan and Vegetarian options .The proprietor was friendly and helpful .It is a small pretty walk into the centre of York and the Guesthouse is situated in a village location of its own with bars and places to eat on the doorstep and traditional shops.Loved it so much we are returning for a weekend in December to hopefully enjoy the Christmas Markets.

Lovely, fresh, modern decor. Everywhere meticulously clean. Mike the owner is very friendly and is only too happy to help when asked, he also cooks a spot on breakfast. The guest house is situated in a lovely neighbourhood, just outside the medieval walls (10 mins walk from centre). Me and my girlfriend just returned home from our second stay there and weren’t disappointed, we even stayed for an extra night! I had to travel to York on family business from America. As a former B&B owner myself, I can attest that this little guest house is truly remarkable. It is superbly clean, well appointed, and with charming rooms, lounge, and dining room. The owner, Michael Brown, has renovated all of his six rooms so that they are all en-suite. Each room has amenities like hairdryer, coffee maker, gratuity biscuits, water, hot water bottle, smart TV, and such like. Furthermore, the owner went out of his way to help me book rail tickets to York. Included breakfast was a delight, as one can have a full English breakfast or porridge or various tasteful cereals and full-grain breads.I will definitely be staying only at this guest house when I next visit York. However book early, as it is a small inn. Five stars + for this little business. Thank you for a memorable stay!

The purpose of our visit to York on this occasion was twofold.First, to bring our Grandson back to his home after a ten week term at York Uni., and second, to refressh memories from a visit some forty years previously.We are fairly regular travellers, and will always choose a smaller hotel with a degree of Character and charm. The Dairy House did not let us down - plenty of both were very evident, only surpassed by the care and attention afforded by Mike, who looked after us very well in every sense. From ensuring that we had a safe parking spot very close to his hotel,advising on other means of travel into the City Centre / University , and places to eat and drink. Most helpful ! Thanks a lot Mike. We expect to make a return visit next Summer, and will most certainly try to book again with The Dairy House.

Stayed here for 3 nights. I chose it because it was close to family who live in York, however I would happily stay here again even if I wasn't visiting family. It's clean, cosy and comfortable and the breakfast was fab. It's in a great location, handy for local shops, bars & restaurants but also within walking distance of the city centre. Couldn't fault it.

Wonderful place to stay and in a excellent location, just a 10 minute walk to the centre. Dairy Guest house is clean, warm and welcoming and the breakfast is perfect to stay or day off. Everything was perfect thank you.

We had an excellent stay over a weekend in October. The hosts were welcoming, rooms were clean and well presented and the breakfast was excellent. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again!

Been to the Dairy guest house 3 times and each time we've been me and my wife have beenlooked after to the max friendly and always helpful in every way possible and only a stones throw away from York.

Stayed several times and wouldn't stay anywhere else in York. It's comfy, clean and welcoming. Lovely breakfasts. One tiny negative - we'd prefer a king size bed, but manage in a double for a couple of nights.

The guest house was situated in a good location to allow walking distance to the city centre. It took about 15 minutes with children to walk in to the town centre.The property also has local shops and restaurants within a couple of minutes walk.The breakfast was excellent and catered for vegetarians and vegans.Our room was cleanand tidy and the owner was extremely helpful by being specific with instructions, such as where to park and following the local map.

Mike runs a fine bnb, and has a really great list of city dining options. Unfortunately, we only got to try two of them, which were the among best we found over 14 days in England. It's just a few short blocks to the city wall. The railway museum was a hit with us. Mike's care, advise and breakfast are heartily recommended.

Our stay was very pleasant, Quiet and relaxing, The room was clean and thoughtfully decorated.Staff very helpful, you couldn’t need more, And then there is a beautiful garden/courtyard designed by Mike the owner himself, gorgeous flowers, just loved it.

I stayed at the Dairy guest house for 2 nights and would definitely stay again it is situated a few minutes walk outside the centre but i actually preferred that as i discovered some lovely shops and restaurants that i had no knowledge of before even though im a regular visitor to york well worth a visit .

Highly recommended for a short break in York.We stayed in the Family room which was exceptionally clean, comfortable and well maintained.Our welcome from Mike was warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble, and the breakfast was spot on!! Only ten minutes walk from Cliffords Tower and Castle museum. Perfectly situated.Looking forward to our next visit as soon as possible:-)

Lovely city, lovely area, lovely guesthouse. Very comfortable and clean with nice decor. A good range of supplies in the room which are replenished every day. Set in the Bishy Road area which has a great range of independent shops and eating places including a funky shop selling loose dry foods and no plastic items.

Another return visit to the Dairy guest house and as usual Mike never disappoints, we stayed in the court yard suite for the first time since Mike took over the establishments and loved it, the improvements Mike has made to this room are amazing. Whilst not much to look at outside, inside there is a warm welcome and very decent rooms. Very handy for the station and central sights but only street parking round the corner or up the road. Good breakfasts in-house, and restaurants for other meals close by.

DGH was great, everything from check in, the room itself, cleaniliness, breakfast, a quiet night's sleep, to check out. The only thing that could have been better for me was to have a pillow that was firmer as the pillows were too soft for me. 5star rating, I would stay again and recommend it to others. Thanks DGH.

Im so happy i found this guest house.I wanted a clean, modern place to stay within walking distance from the station and the Diary Guest house ticked all the boxes, and more! Love the little touches , especially the toiletries. Perfect.

Michael was the perfect host and made us very welcome.Our bedroom was cosy and comfortable with an en suite shower very tastefully decorated.Breakfast was freshly cooked to order with plenty of tea, coffee and toast.There was also a peaceful courtyard to relax in with garden seating.We loved staying here central for everything definitely be staying again.Michael,s place is a little gem.

It was a pleasure to spend three nights at Dairy Guest House, with welcoming owner, Mike.The atmosphere was very relaxed.My room was attractive and had some delightful touches, e.g. a hot water bottle.I was pleased to find a room designed specifically for a single traveller.I know from experience that single travellers are often over-looked. Highly recommended.

This place is in a great location for all aspects of York especially for the racecourse. Mike is a great host and the single room is excellent for a single person.

The Dairy House is a beautiful b&b, and Mike a very attentive host: he carried our cases up to our room; provided plenty of quality toiletries; and offered a good choice at breakfast, especially for someone with multiple dietary needs. We were on the verge of rebooking for Christmas festivities in Nov/Dec but personal finances mean it will have to wait for next year, a real shame

My stay at the Dairy House was a true highlight of my stay in England. Mike has created a calm and simply elegant atmosphere. A plus is the wonderful breakfast fare. The location is very central and convenient. York is a lovely historic town and Dairy House was the perfect place to stay while exploring it.

We had a warm welcome at Dairy Guest House, big English breakfast and possibilities for something with less calories. Very nice and tidy family room. Appreciated the choice of soft drinks, coffee, tea, books and some games for the children.

My husband and I have stayed at the Dairy guests house 3 times now.We love York and visit every year for the Christmas markets, Location is excellent, it’s a short 10 minute walk into the Cily Centre. As a single female traveller I felt very safe and comfortable at Dairy guest house. Good location, 15 mins walk from the York train station and lots of cafes and a Sainsbury right around the corner. The breakfast was fresh and delcious! Both Vegetarian and Vegan options are available. The maps and local food and sightseeing guides provided were helpful as well.

What we really like is the location just ten minutes from town and fifteen from the station on foot. Noticed a bit of noise during delivery times from the neighbouring shop but this is unavoidable. Started with very warm welcome explaining all facilities, carried bags to room explained facilities in room ,very clean lovely room , with selection ofdrink snack facilities, small touches but mean a lot , excellent breakfast with a lot of selection cooked to perfection x as much as we wanted . Had a wonderful time at Dairy guest house. The room was on ground floor and perfectly adequate for two night stay the newly refurbished wet room was fabulous. The cooked breakfast was delicious. Location was also good a lovely walk into the centre of York approx 15 mins. Plenty of restaurants and bars within 5 mins. Parking with permit a few yards away from the guest house. Mikes hospitality was excellent I am sure we will be visiting again.

The Dairy is a lovely place to stay , Mike the owner is very friendly and nothing is too much for him to do for you.The food is excellent all locally sourced and cooked to your likening. The Dairy is spotlessly clean with tea and coffeein your room which is very good first thing in a morning.It is ideally located as we like racing and is only a 15 minute walk to the course and about the same to walk into the town centre.There are quite a few bars and restaurants near the Dairy if you do not want to walk far. We stay here all the time when racing it just suits us perfectly .

We stayed here in late May 2016 and appreciated the location, friendliness of the owner, and good breakfasts. We were able to enjoy a drink on the backyard patio, and we took advantage of the nearby bakery and laundry facility. Only a 10-minute walk to downtown.

This place is absolutely amazing! It's within easy walking distance of the city, and yet I heard absolutely no noise when I was in my room. The facilities were without fault and the breakfast choices were fantastic. Cannot rate it highly enough. I'll definitely be booking in again.

From booking to check out...... Flawless! Our family room was perfect, bathroom nicer than my own! Filter coffee, squash, filtered water, chocolates and biscuits. Breakfast was really tasty and plentiful! The owner was available and really friendly and helpful. Can't wait to return. Very homely, 20 minute walk from the centre.

We've just come back from a lovely stay at the Dairy Guest House. Our room (no 6) was on the ground floor, across a delightful courtyard garden. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a beautifulmodern large shower room with toiletries supplied including facial/makeup wipes. There was a large walk-in wardrobe/cupboard with lots of room for storage. Our room also had plenty of drawers for storage, a hair drier and even a pack of cards.Our host was very helpful, carrying our bags to our room and giving us a map, and directions, into town which was only a few minutes walk away. Breakfast (ordered the previous day) was delicious and freshly cooked.The free WIFI was fast and the room had a TV with loads of channels.Our host arranged a parking voucher for us (on-street parking is very limited without one), and it was easy to park just a few yards from the guest house.All in all, a great find, we would most certainly recommend it and would stay there again when we go back to York.

Everything fine, nice to be able to book somewhere with 2 single beds as was travelling with my nearly grown up son.

I stayed here for 3 nights and part of an 8 day trip through England and in terms of accommodation this was by far the high point. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the features, door trims and decor made it a great place to spend time in. The host, Mike, looks after all your needs and cooks an excellent breakfast, while the location is very easily accessible to both the old town and the railway stations. I would not hesitate to return here on my next visit to York

We have just spent the easter week end in the Dairy Guesthouse. It was terriffic. Clean and very friendly,breakfast excellent. Would stay again on our next trip. Mike was a star host

Stayed here over 2 nights. Very comfortable and quiet. Situated short walk to centre.Breakfast lovely especially the poached eggs. Would definitely stay here again.

I stayed on my own in the guest house for two nights whilst visiting family, I felt very welcome as a lone traveller. Plus the owner was very friendly and made an effort to talk to me each morning which I appreciated. The room was well equipped,and had quaint, vintage style furnishings - very to my taste! The pillows were slightly too hard for me but that is a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things!

We enjoyed our stay with Mike at Dairy Guesthouse. The room was well cleaned by a cheery housekeeper.Breakfast was excellent. Over 2 days I went for the full English and smoked haddock options. Both were tasty and well presented.My small grievance would be the low water pressure from the over bath shower. Having said that I understand that room 3 is the next for a refurb so maybe this will improve. It wasn't a big negative anyway.We would definitely stay again.

I stayed here with my adult sons. It is a great location in a local community with local shops and places to eat. It is a 12 minute walk into York and to the station so you can park and forget your car. A car parking pass is provided on request.Good breakfast provided and room was warm and cosy with very comfortable beds. I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent stay friendly clean and great breakfast

2nd visit of the year and once again made to feel so welcome we arrived at 10:30 on friday morning mike took our bags and issued me with my parking permit so myself and wife had a full day which we didnt get last october at a differnt guest house the room room 4 had just been refurbished and was done to a high standard as for the large walk in shower which replaced the bath was well worth using the breakfast was superb enough to keep you going all day we look forward to seeing you next year.

The guesthouse lies within walking distance of the town centre and the train station. The room was comfortable and quiet. Good wifi connection, good vegetarian breakfast. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

We had a lovely few days in York staying at the Dairy Guest House. Mike the owner could not of been nicer and more welcoming. Breakfast was lovely and my daughter and I both slept really well. York is a beautiful city with lots to do and see. We packed our trip with lots to do but still have lots of things on our to do list so will be back and will be staying at the Dairy when we do.

Little quiet guest house ,ten mins walk from centre York.oldy worldy,very pleasant and comfortable... Host very friendly and hospitable, good choices for breakfast, also vegetarian ,and vegan catered for.car parking available just up the road with parking permit for car... Very enjoyable

What a charming stay! Loved the neighborhood, very quiet at night, Mike's cooking was delicious and our room was cozy but comfy. Found out our room is being remodeled which will make it much nicer.We'll come back and check it out!! :)

I loved staying at the Dairy Guesthouse in York. The manager was very friendly and welcoming, the accommodation clean and neat with unexpected extras ,such as complimentary bottle of water, hot chocolate, cookies and chocolates in the room. The breakfasts were delicious and filling; very informal and relaxed. The guesthouse was also well situated, being in walking distance from York and York's wall.

This is the second time we have stopped at the Dairy and it won't be the last.A most enjoyable weekend away, lovely room.

A charming B&B located just a short walk from the City centre, and the added bonus of free parking was really good.Nice clean rooms with comfortable beds and a great breakfast, Michael and his lovely wife made us feel so at home, highly recommended.

Was delighted with stay at The Dairy Guest House - it was all I had read about - but experiencing was better - super host in Mike, relaxing atmosphere, peaceful courtyard, lovely breakfast, good restaurants and coffee shops nearby and all the medieval history of York at the end of the street - just the best!!!

Had such a lovely 2 night stay at the dairy guest house. Room was lovely and clean but the shower was a bit small. Breakfast both morning's wasreally enjoyable. Location is also great with the city centre within 10 mins walking distance.Would definitely stay again!

We opted for this guest house after reading the numerous great reviews about it and it did not disappoint. Before we even arrived in York, a number of emails had been exchanged between myself and the proprietor, Mike, regarding check-in procedures and I was provided with extremely detailed instructions on what to do on arrival. Once I accessed the building and proceeded to my room, I found my parking permit for outside the guest house, an information pack and a menu for breakfast on which we had to indicate our choice and leave in the dining room for the next day - that's efficiency at its best! The room (with four poster bed) was very cosy, clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was lovely too, served by Mike and his wife who couldn't have been more friendly. The location of this guest house is ideal, at just a 10-15 minute walk from the city and there is no need to worry about your car as it is parked safely for he duration of your stay. A very pleasant experience all round, highly recommended.

On arrival we were made to feel so welcome we arrived at 10:30 mike was waiting with the parking permit he then proceeded to check us in the room was excellent the location of the the guesthouse was superb only 10 minutes was walk from city center the breakfast was sufficient we have stopped in a 4 star guest house before and there was more on offer i suppose if asked more toast and coffee could have been available but none extra was offered but all in all i would recomend this guest house

Excellent location. 10 minute stroll into York Even though on a main road it was lovely and quiet. Excellent host nothing was too much trouble. Fresh water every day in room which was a lovely touch hot water bottle lovely idea breakfast was delicious. Well worth the money and would certainly stay again. Thank you for a lovely stay

We stayed here for 2 nights, first impressions were ok. Yes it is dated but that adds to the charm. Its in a good location you can walk into York in about 10 mins. The owner was nice and friendly and breakfast was lovely. We would stay here again.

This place is perfectly located just out of the city centre and offers everything you need for an overnight stay. Comfy, scacious room and fantastic breakfast with choices for all dietry needs. Would recommend to other and would definately stay here again!

I've really enjoyed my 4 night stay at Dairy Guesthouse.Mike was very welcoming.My room was a good size, warm, very clean and the bed was comfy.The breakfasts were well presented, tasty and I had lots of menu options to choose from.The chocolates were a nice touch.I would definitely recommend this Guesthouse.

This guest house is in a brilliant location a short walk from York's historic wall and some attractions.Room small but well equipped and clean.Nice breakfast, owner helpful.We got a parking permit, requested at time of booking. Parking is difficult, only a few spaces available. Road works when we were there so even more restricted.

We stayed in the "King size 4 poster" room for several nights. The room overlooked the road but the secondary glazing kept most of the noise out and we were not bothered by traffic noise. The room was only just big enough for the 4 poster bed but that was not a problem. The ensuite had been built into the corner of the room and was a little cramped but clean. The water in the shower was a bit slow to drain away. The welcome was friendly and the service good. Good breakfasts made with good quality ingredients.

We had a very pleasant stay at The Dairy Guesthouse in York. The owner welcomed us warmly although we were way early. The beds were fine and so was the breakfast. When we will come back to York, we surely will stay in the Dairy Guesthouse again. My children would like to add that the free wifi was great!

Friendly, quiet and cheerful like a home

I have been at Diary Guest House for one weekend and it is a lovely and dearly place. It is like visiting your family :) The staff is extremely helpful, the rooms are really clean and the breakfast is glorius. I would everybody recommend this hotel.

A couple of friends and I stayed here when meeting up in York for a girlie weekend.Ken and Sue, the owners were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble (including posting back items left behind!) Rooms were spotless and comfortable and the little touches made all the difference. Good location with an easy walk from the station and into the centre of York. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back.

It's a quirky place, distributed over two buildings. The breakfast is more or less what you can expect from a B&B. Nothing fancy, but well done. Room was large and comfy. Only reason I didn't give it all five is the shower. It is one of those run through electrical water heaters next to the shower typical in many English homes. The throughput is not big enough to provide a really nice shower, but it's good enough and as I said not out of the ordinary (I've seen better and worse).In York (thinking of it, make that in England) it was so far the best B&B I stayed in (so far 3) and very good value for money.

The guest house was clean & comfortable. The owners were friendly and very helpful. As I was travelling for business I neededbreakfast served at an earlier time - this was not a problem for the owners and this in itself made me feel like a valued guest. I will definitely stay again & will be recommending to others.

We found our stay very pleasant and we were well looked after by pleasant staff. The room was clean and the food was very good.

Extremely helpful and lovely family runs this nice house just a few blocks from the city wall on the way out of York to the southeast. One of those places you are just made to feel comfortable. You can easily walk to the castle museum and Jorvik Center, the minster is a bit of a trek, but not a problem for more fit and younger walkers than I. Room 2 a pleasant double, shower just a tad too weak and temperature unstable (a system I have seen in other guesthouses, and it is an unfortunate one, as it is too expensive to replace). I had to leave before breakfast, but was graciously accommodated with an early round of cereal, juice and tea, and made a bacon buttie to eat on the way to the train. I would definitely recommend as one of the above average guesthouses of York.

This is the second time we have stayed at the dairy guest house and found our hosts and stay very pleasent. It is great value for money and we will definatly be staying there again.The only negative we have found is that we would prefer continetal quilts on the bed rather than blankets but other than that excellent!!The breakfasts are lovely and the rooms characterful and comfortable.Happy new year to all at the Dairy xx

We had a brilliant time when we stayed.The Dairy isn't far from York City Centre so had some nice little walks, also the No 7 bus to the Designer Outlet is just at the bottom of the street.Family room is basic but clean and tidy a very good size, everything you need for your stay.If something isn't there you only have to ask as the owners are lovely, friendly people.

This is a great friendly guest house. The room was clean and tidy. the breakfast was A1 with a choice of cereals, fruit juices and then a full english to finish. Just a 5 min walk from the castle area of York makes this an ideal place to stay.
